Harriet Wilson, formerly at Condé Nast, joins as a member with recent senior editorial experience in magazines.

The Chair of IPSO, Lord Faulks KC, said:

“The editorial member of the Complaints Committee is a vital role in bringing essential industry experience to the Committee.

“Sarah Havlin is a respected lawyer. She previously served as a Standards Investigator for IPSO. Her experience will be an asset to the Complaints Committee which she joins as a lay member.

“Harriet Wilson will help navigate the tricky decisions that the Complaints Committee must reach, through a sharp journalist’s lens.”

Harriet Wilson was Managing Editor of Tatler, its Director of Editorial Administration and Rights, and the Condé Nast code of conduct representative. She has also served on the Editors’ Code of Practice Committee. She said:

“I have worked in press regulation over the years from the point of view of journalists, editors and members of the public and found solutions that are satisfactory to all. Being on the Complaints Committee, will enable me to bring this varied experience to the table.”

Sarah Havlin worked in commercial practice and was commissioned in independent leadership, policy and judicial roles in Northern Ireland. She said:

“I have a keen interest in press regulation and will use my experience in complaints investigation across sectors to protect the rights of the public while upholding freedom of expression for the press.”

Both will begin their work on the Committee from 1 January 2025.
