While congratulating the Society for their longstanding dedication to protecting freedom of expression, he declared his commitment to “free and rigorous, courageous yet accountable press”.

He added that “while it is something of a cliché to say that we live in a time of fake news, it is all the more important to get your news from a source which is curated and produced by publishers that are identifiable and accountable”.
