Niall Duffy announced as IPSO's Director of External Affairs

IPSO has announced the appointment of Niall Duffy as its first Director of External Affairs. Duffy comes to IPSO after a career in communications that has taken in the RSPCA, Nestle and most recently the airline Flybe’s Director of Comms.

The newly created post will oversee IPSO’s work in the media, in public affairs and stakeholder work, as well as its digital presence and outreach work, including events and education. The role reports directly to Chief Executive, Matt Tee and works closely with the Board and Chairman, Sir Alan Moses.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Tee said: “I’m delighted that Niall has joined IPSO as our Director of External Affairs. As IPSO carries out our work, it is vital that we communicate better and more regularly with all our stakeholders. Niall’s cross-sectoral experience will be hugely beneficial for the organisation, will strengthen our senior team and the Board and I are looking forward to working with him.”

Niall Duffy added: “IPSO has the potential to change completely the way in which the newspaper and magazine industry in the UK is regulated and I’m really pleased to be appointed. Having seen the progress Sir Alan and Matt have already made, I am excited at the prospect of being a part of an organisation that strives not only to uphold standards of journalism but also provides support and redress for individuals seeking to complain about breaches of the Editors’ Code.“
