IPSO opens Publisher Consultation 2025
IPSO has launched its 2025 biennial publisher consultation – an important opportunity for our regulated publishers to tell us what they think about our work and how we’re doing
We want to hear views about our remit, the complaints process, our standards and communications work. These consultations are great opportunities for us to check in with publishers about changes in their work. This time we are asking how publishers are incorporating artificial intelligence into their operations.
IPSO’s Chair, Lord Faulks explained the value of the consultation:
“We have found this to be an extremely useful exercise to better to understand the motivations of publishers who participate in our independent system of regulation, and to identify areas where we could improve.”
This year’s consultation has questions about:
- the effectiveness of IPSO as a regulator;
- the usefulness of the information the publishers receive from IPSO;
- IPSO’s standards work and complaints handling;
- how publications are using AI.
The last consultation in 2023 led to changes in our complaints service, and the launch of monthly newsletters to publicise our work, and an increased focus on in-person workshops with editorial teams.
The consultation is open until 14 November 2025. Details on how to participate have been circulated via email to each regulated publisher’s designated Responsible Person today (24 October). Publishers should contact us if they haven’t received a link to complete the consultation at Elena.Richards.Coldicutt@ipso.co.uk
