Charlotte Dewar is the Chief Executive Officer of IPSO, the independent regulator for the newspaper, magazine, and digital news industry in the UK. With over ten years of experience in press regulation, Charlotte sets IPSO’s strategy and oversees its work to monitor and maintain high standards of journalism set by the Editors’ Code; support the public; and uphold freedom of expression. Charlotte began her career as an Editorial Assistant at The Guardian, which she combined with working as a researcher for the columnist Simon Jenkins. She joined the Press Complaints Commission in 2010, eventually rising to Director of Complaints. She went on to become the Director of Operations at IPSO. Charlotte has an MBA from Cambridge University’s Judge Business School.
